Porto, Portugal photo dump - Day 5
Most of this day was spent exploring downtown Porto, but the main site was the Palácio da Bolsas (the stock exchange building). It’s still in use today for daily business use and hosts monthly meetings for the elected officials. Each room was stunning with unique ornate details made of wood, plaster, cork, and tile. This was my favorite historical site/building we’ve visited so far!

Porto, Portugal photo dump - Day 5
Most of this day was spent exploring downtown Porto, but the main site was the Palácio da Bolsas (the stock exchange building). 1.&2.&3.&4. Catedral do Porto - this was my favorite spot of the day! You first walk into the “cloister” with a center courtyard (4th video) and outside borders covered in beautiful archways and the blue tile murals everywhere! 3rd photo shows the main chapel. Upstairs there is an overview to the full courtyard and access to the tower that has a panoramic view of the city!
5. São Bento Train Station with each wall containing massive murals featuring the famous Portuguese blue tiles again!
6. Big ass cat mural in a side alley, apparently cats are very popular here.
7.&8. Miradouro das Virtudes - an incredible viewpoint of the city overlooking the Douro River
9. Iglesia de San Francisco - the main area was under construction but there is a museum and crypt included. This was the back corner of the crypt ☠️

1.&4.&5. Castelo de São Jorge - this was by far our favorite spot in Lisbon! It’s on the highest hill in the city (trust me when I say that is a terrible accolade, this entire city is just walking up and down hills) but the views where beyond compare! There are so many lookout points, a museum, walk the castle walls, and peacocks walking around everywhere 🦚
2.&3. Miradouro de Santa Luzia - miradouro (viewpoints) are all over the city, but this one had a front row view to the ocean, flowers all around, and a wall covered with Portugal’s signature blue tiles
6. A random alley with said signature blue tiles. They are almost all hand made!
7. The gathering area in front of the Palacio de Sao Vicente. Literally every corner you turn has some incredible views of the city’s architecture and florals!

1. Started our day grabbing brunch close to our AirBnB!
2.&3.&4. Normally when we travel we spend the majority of our days wandering around with one or two spots to hit during the day. We stumbled upon the “pink street” which is the iconic street lined in bright pink with colored umbrellas hanging over top! There were a few restaurants but mostly scenic views.
5. Another stop on our wandering adventure, we ended up making our way to the Mediterranean 🌊
6. On our way home to change for dinner we found a miradouro (viewpoint) that gave an INCREDIBLE view of the southeastern side of the city (you can peep the Castillo in the background on the hill)!

1. Arco Grande - a massive bridge that used to be a water reservoir
2. View of the Castelo do Sao Jorge from our lunch spot
3. Found a hidden garden in the middle of the city with an amphitheater, museum, and tons of lush pathways
4. One thing we HIGHLY underestimated was how hilly this city is. There are tram cars on multiple hills just to ride a few yards in length at a massive incline
